Midnight Machine
Slow techno sketches built from found sounds.
I sampled the hum of a fridge, a lift door, and a metro brake — then tuned them into a minor chord. Add a kick, and the room suddenly breathes at 94 BPM.
Recipe:
- Kick: gentle saturation, low shelf +2 dB at 75 Hz
- Bass: one‑oscillator sine with a tiny bit of noise
- Texture: band‑pass the field recordings, automate width
Keep the master bus clean. Let the weirdness live upstream.
